As an entrepreneur you obviously need capital to be able to start your own business. Of course, your capital does not have to come from you alone; many starting entrepreneurs therefore look for investors. How and where you can find investors, you can read here!

How do I find investors?

There are many places and opportunities to find investors, but of course you must know where. For example, you can look for an investor through your bank, but it is also possible to find an investor through social media or through your accountant.

Your own network

One of the most important sources of capital for young entrepreneurs is their own network. Often there are parents, grandparents or friends who see potential in your business and therefore like to contribute. Make sure you make clear agreements with them about the loan. If there is miscommunication about this, it can have major effects on your private relationships.

Investment companies

Online there are many investment companies. These companies are mainly concerned with investing and securities. So they are always looking for new projects and companies where they can invest their money. Because there are so many investment companies, you can also find many investors here. Do enough research to know if the company and their conditions suit you.

Angel investors

In the most ideal case, you will meet an angel investor. Not only does he have a lot of capital that he likes to invest in your company, but he also contributes knowledge and brings his network into the business. These angel investors often invest between €50,000 and €750,000 and are more than happy to help you make your business a success.

Beware! There are also business devils. These look like business angels, but they often want more say in your company and will even try to take over your company completely.

Crowdfunding

The last source of capital is a very popular one: crowdfunding. By putting your business or project on a crowdfunding page, you make sure you are visible for people to contribute. Consider GoFundMe, a crowdfunding page where people can make a contribution of €5 or more. Instead of one or two big investors, you now have 100 small investors.

It is of course important that you prepare well before you approach an investor. It is therefore recommended to write a business plan. In it you tell completely who you are, what you do and what you stand for with your company. You also bring the finances into focus in an investment plan, so the investor can easily see how much money you need and what you are going to use it for.
