What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? Scroll on instagram for an hour? Hurriedly drink a cup of coffee, shower and go to work? Stop doing this. If you want to get everything out of your business you need to get everything out of your days. Get a good morning routine. If you want to get the best out of each day, a good morning is worth its weight in gold. Make every morning a killer morning and take your business to the next level!

Why a morning routine?

You may be thinking why do I have to have a killer morning? Maybe you feel fine and things are going okay. But what if everything could be much better? What if you could get much more out of each day. What if every day you could improvise your business a little more, improve yourself and feel happier! Then you would do this, right? Yes, I thought so! Creating a morning routine is often the first step of people who begin self improvement, and for good reason.

That’s why you need to have a killer morning. Without a morning routine, there’s a good chance you suffer from the following: You often feel rushed, know little rest or have little energy and so on. Do you recognize this in yourself? This is because of how you start your day! When you rest in the morning your day starts better than when you are in a hurry to drink a cup of coffee. It makes you fitter, happier and more successful. It really gives a kick start to your day! When you get up an hour earlier every day and take the time to start your day with a good routine you will experience the following benefits.

  • You have more peace
  • You have more energy
  • You are ahead of the rest
  • You have more time
  • You are happier

There is a reason why many successful businessmen use a morning routine. For example, look at Warren Buffet or Tony Robbins. Warren Buffet gets up at 6:45 every day to begin his morning routine. Tony Robbins has been starting every morning for 10 years with 10 minutes of meditation to completely unwind. This is followed by a 15-minute workout before he begins his day.

Getting up early?

You hear people say it all the time! I’m not a morning person, I can’t get up early. Nonsense, anyone can get up early.

I used to not be a morning person either, I never got out of my bed before 10 am. Nowadays I get up every day at 7 am and start my killer morning . Is this necessary? No of course not. Does it help? Yes, for many it helps to get up earlier. Getting up early can ensure that you get more rest, are more energetic and become more productive. The important thing is to pick a time that you feel comfortable with. You don’t have to get out of bed right away at 5 or 6.

To get out of bed early, it is important why you are getting out of bed. Do you need to get out of bed or do you want to get out of bed? When you feel like you have to get out of bed you’re not going to be able to do it. But have you set your goals, are you excited about the day and what it will bring. Then you will succeed, your drive will help! However, of course it can still be hard not to snooze and get out of bed. That’s perfectly normal! Therefore, here are five tips to make sure you motivate yourself and get out of bed!

  • Set your goals before you go to sleep.
Make sure you go to sleep with positive thoughts and prepare for the next day. Your last thought before you go to sleep is the first when you wake up. If you wake up with a negative thought like “Oh shit, I’ve only got 6 hours of sleep I’ll probably be tired tomorrow” you will wake up feeling bad and tired. However when you think of something nice before sleeping you will wake up and jump out of bed. Just think back to the old days when you went on vacation or a school trip, for example. You were full of enthusiasm right next to your bed anyway!
  • Move your alarm clock.
This one speaks a little more for itself. Move your alarm clock away from your bed so you have to get out to turn it off. This will also energize you by getting your body moving!
  • Brush your teeth.
By brushing your teeth you are performing a simple activity and giving your body time to wake up. So run straight to the bathroom and brush your teeth, also it helps to throw some (cold) water in your face.
  • Drink a full glass of water.
It is important to hydrate yourself immediately in the morning. During the night you dehydrate which makes you feel tired in the morning. Often when people feel tired during the day it is because of dehydration. So always make sure that you hydrate yourself as soon as possible. For example, have a glass of water ready next to your bed in the evening.
  • Put on the right clothes immediately.
Do you want to work out in the morning? Then immediately put on your sportswear. This ensures that you can take immediate action when you are ready to go and walk out the door.

In addition to these tips, there are many other ways to help yourself get out of bed early and be awake right away. If you have automatic lights you can set a timer that it will be light when you wake up. Or turn the heater on ahead of time in the winter so it’s warm when you wake up.

How do I start a morning routine?

You hear people say it all the time! I’m not a morning person, I can’t get up early. Nonsense, anyone can get up early.

You know the benefits and know how to wake up. But how do you start a morning routine? How do you create your own killer morning? The first step is actually quite simple. You just have to start! First, decide what time you want to get up and what your routine should be. Everyone has their own preferences about what they do and in what order. In this you have your own choice. Need inspiration for creating your morning routine? There are several books that can help you with this.

  • The miracle morning
  • The 5am club
  • My morning routine

I myself have read the Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. In his book he describes how he created his own miracle morning using the 6 lifeSAVERS and changed his life. This miracle morning takes one hour and looks like this:

  • Silence. Beginning in silence with a meditation.
  • Affirmation. Saying affirmations to activate and develop your mindset.
  • Visualization. Visualizing what you want to achieve.
  • Exercise. Exercising to start your blood circulation.
  • Reading. Reading books about such things as self improvement
  • Scribing. Keeping a journal or diary. Can also be used for writing down your goals and motivations.

These SAVERS work for many but do not have to work for everyone. Also, you can easily make your own interpretation here. You can use some instead of all or do it in a different order. The important thing is to create a set routine that you do every day.

30 day challenge

To establish a habit, something must be performed for 30 days in a row. So if you want to build a morning routine into your life permanently to get everything out of it. Then you will have to do this for 30 days in a row. Then it will become a habit, then it will happen automatically! The first 10 days will be difficult, maybe even horrible. From the 11th day it will become bearable, you don’t feel comfortable yet but it will. From the 21 day it will be a breeze, then it will feel like a habit. This is where people go wrong, they stop after 21 days because by then it feels like a habit. But if you want to keep this habit then you have to keep going until the 30 days! Only then will you keep this habit and every morning will be a killer morning!
