Making money with Pinterest? Is that a thing? And if so, can you do it? Pinterest has been a part of our lives for years. The search engine ensures that you are shown the images that match your search query. This is why Pinterest is often used as an inspiration board, for example when putting together a new kitchen or bathroom.
By default, search results consist of a picture, a description and a button. You cannot make purchases on Pinterest itself, but you can use it as a marketing channel. If you make sure that your Pinterest pins get a lot of traffic, you can redirect a percentage of it to, for example, a landing page on your website. Besides individual photos, you can also publish carousels and, since recently, videos. These stand out even more from the other stationary photos.

But there are still a lot of other topics about which relatively few pins are made on Pinterest. In these areas, you have a better chance of being shown with your pins. The only question is whether your target audience will search for it enough. Try to find a promising, creative combination.

If you find that there is not enough organic reach within your industry, you can choose to use Pinterest ads. You then pay to be displayed higher on certain search terms. This will probably put you higher up than other competitors who are trying to generate new leads organically. Again, you need to do good research into which ad positions might be beneficial for your offering. Look for popular search terms that are frequently searched for, but on which few competitors are active.
