Hackathon, a word you’ve probably heard before. You might think of a bunch of programmers sitting around typing hard on their laptops, but that’s not the case. Everything you need to know about a hackathon can be found here!
What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is an event where teams come together and work non-stop to solve a problem. They only have a short time for these cases. The events are almost always free because they are sponsored by the company or provider of the cases.
The goal of a hackathon is to solve a case within a short period of time. The case is a problem that is currently going on within a company or the providers. At the end of the hackathon, the provider has a solution that can be applied within the company.
How does a hackathon work?
In a hackathon, there is a provider. This is the one who presents a case and wants a solution for it. There are mixed teams with different profiles, so that everyone can contribute from his/her expertise. After an explanation of the case, the teams start brainstorming and coming up with a solution. A hackathon can last a day, but sometimes the teams spend several days working on it. At the end, they can present their solutions to the provider and the rest of the participants.
A hackathon can contribute a lot for you or your company. Whatever problem you have, you can actually have it solved through a hackathon. Is it something for you? Or would you rather participate in a hackathon yourself?
